Kingstone Consultancy is a team of specialist engineers.

We've got deep experience in power and electrical systems, and it's backed up by real strength in the disciplines that sit around it: cyber security and avionics, systems and mechanical engineering, safety work that stretches into ordnance and explosives, aviation maintenance, and keeping platforms supportable long after they're built. Most of that experience comes from the same regulated defence and maritime programmes we now advise on.

That range actually matters day to day. Real problems don't stay in their lane. Something that looks electrical on the surface is often systems, or safety, or obsolescence underneath. Because we've got that ground covered ourselves, we see the whole problem instead of just the bit that matches our job title.

Some of that work happens at a desk: modelling, calculating, writing the case that has to hold up under scrutiny years after it's signed off. Some of it happens on a flight line, on a ship, in a workshop at an odd hour on tour, hands actually on the thing that has to work. We think both matter, and between us we've done both.

Everything we do gets held to the same standard: the kind of engineering we'd actually want on our own projects. Clear, defensible decisions, not vague directional waffle. Honesty about risk, even when it's not what someone wants to hear. We don't write paperwork just to survive an audit. We write it to live and evolve through the project, adapting as the customer's needs change, through life and beyond disposal. And that standard doesn't stop at the engineering. It's how we run the business too, doing things properly even when it'd be easier, or cheaper, not to.

We've built our experience on programmes where getting it wrong wasn't an option, and we bring that same discipline to every job regardless of size. From a quick technical review to something drawing on the scale our team's worked at on major regulated programmes, we scale to fit what the project actually needs.

We price per job, not by the hour, so there's never a reason to make a job take longer than it should. If we get through early and there's a bit more value we can add within what we budgeted, we'll add it. If the scope genuinely grows, because that's what proper engineering sometimes does, we'll talk to you about it rather than surprise you with an invoice. What we quote is what you pay.

If we're not the right people for a job, we'll tell you before we start, and point you toward people who are. If partway through something turns out to be outside what we're confident in, we'll say so and bring in the right expertise rather than stretch ourselves to cover it. What we promise is what turns up, and we're not interested in holding anything back to sell you later.

We won't sign something off because someone's under pressure to get it signed off. If a design needs more work, we'll say so, even on the day nobody wants to hear it. That's the entire point of bringing in an independent engineer instead of just asking the person who built it whether it's fine.

Every recommendation we make, we can defend, line by line, back to the evidence behind it. If we can't show our working, we don't make the claim. That applies whether it's a five-figure job or a nine-figure one. The size of the fee doesn't change the size of our conscience.

Some companies are democracies. Most are dictatorships. This one is closer to a responsible anarchy: everyone works together, but independently, with the freedom to make real decisions without waiting for permission.

We work directly with clients, owners and partner consultancies. Some of the best work we do sends a job to someone else instead of us. When we know people who are better placed for a piece of work, we'll say so and make the introduction. It's not a loss for us. It strengthens a relationship we might need on the next project, and it makes the wider industry a bit stronger too, not just Kingstone Consultancy.

We scale the team to the size of the problem, not the other way around. A quick review might be one engineer for a day. A major programme might draw on several disciplines at once. Either way, you're getting people who've done this before, not people learning on your budget.

Where it helps, we use AI-enabled analysis in our work, especially for supply chain and risk intelligence. It's a tool that sharpens what we can see. It's not a substitute for engineering judgement, and it never makes the call for us.

Engineering firms shape the world whether they mean to or not, and it's easy for that to get lost in the rush to deliver. We don't think it should be optional, so here's where we actually stand.
